1000 Miles + 1

Climbing Higher, Pushing Further

Today, I climbed a mountain. Not just any mountain—one that let me watch the sun dip below the horizon and the stars rise to kiss the sky. A mountain that reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.

I did this to celebrate being 1,001 miles from where I began. A thousand miles of grit, sweat, and stories. A thousand miles of strangers who became friends. A thousand miles of proving to myself, over and over again, that I can do hard things. And today? One more mile. One more challenge. One more step toward something bigger than myself.

It was tough. Exhilarating. Pretty sure I left a lung on a cactus about two-thirds of the way up. But I made it. I stood at the top, looking back at the road I’d walked, breathing in the moment—a deep, full-body sigh of accomplishment, happiness, and pure exhaustion.

Here’s something I didn’t see coming at 50: I’m officially an ultra athlete. That was nowhere on my bingo card. But today, I feel kind of badass.

The celebration isn’t just about the mountain—it’s about every step beyond it. Every single day, I’m walking toward something. And today, I’m standing a little taller because of it.
